Australian market set to open lower

In Australia, the market on Friday ended lower.
THE Australian market looks set to open lower following a stumble on Wall Street as tech stalwarts dragged on indexes and investors braced for major economic and political events in the US and Europe.

At 0645 AEST on Friday, the share price index was down 41 points at 5,218.

Locally, Reserve Bank of Australia assistant governor Guy Debelle will speak at a markets conference. No major equities news is expected on Tuesday.

In Australia, the market on Friday ended 49.3 points lower as resources and banking stocks were hit by weaker commodity prices and global growth concerns.

The broader All Ordinaries index shed 45.8 points to 5,391.6 points.
